About The Position

The Inclusion Helper provides support and assistance to students with severe disabilities at Joppatowne Elementary School. The position supports students during instruction, encourages independence in the least restrictive environment, assists with assignments and personal care, and helps implement student-specific behavioral and instructional strategies. This is a full-time, ten-month position.

Requirements

High school diploma or the minimum educational standard established through federal legislation.
Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
Ability to meet essential physical requirements, with or without accommodation, and pass a pre-employment exam; requirements include squatting, kneeling, and lifting and transferring students weighing up to 40 pounds.
Specific skills as dictated by the needs of the students.

Responsibilities

Support students during instruction and provide modifications and accommodations.
Facilitate student independence in the least restrictive environment.
Assist students with assignments, and follow up on and reinforce activities.
Monitor student behavior and implement behavioral strategies and intervention plans.
Assist with personal care, including lifting, transferring, feeding, and toileting.
Prepare instructional materials for students as directed by the teacher.
Chart data on student progress as necessary.
Participate in assigned professional development programs.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
