Inbound Business Development Representative

TopRank Marketing•Minneapolis, MN
•$60,000 - $65,000•Remote

About The Position

TopRank Marketing is hiring an Inbound Business Development Representative to own new business opportunities from initial inquiry through signed agreement. The role handles inbound prospects generated through content, referrals, partners, and AI assistants, with no cold-prospecting quota. The representative responds within one business day, profiles and qualifies prospects, conducts discovery, shapes and presents proposals with leadership, negotiates within approved pricing guidance, and carries each opportunity to a documented decision. The representative maintains accurate HubSpot records and weekly pipeline metrics, and shares prospect feedback with marketing and leadership. The role reports directly to the CEO and works closely with the Senior Director of Client Accounts and the head of influence and social media. Proposal development begins under close guidance, with ownership expanding as the representative demonstrates sound judgment. Success milestones include independently handling discovery and presenting initial proposals within 90 days, closing initial agreements and producing proposals with leadership review within six months, and meeting the year-one quota while owning proposal development end to end within 12 months. The position is 100% remote within the United States, with no travel required. Compensation is a $60,000–$65,000 base salary, based on experience, plus uncapped commission on net new agency fees closed. Commission is paid as client payments are received, and quota begins after a 90-day ramp. Plan details are shared at the offer stage.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience selling B2B services, with personally closed agreements in the $25,000 to $150,000 range.
  • Experience running discovery calls and presenting proposals to marketing or executive buyers, including buying groups where the signer is not the day-to-day contact.
  • Strong business writing, including clear qualifying emails, concise follow-ups, and proposal summaries suitable for executive readers.
  • Working knowledge of B2B content, SEO, influencer marketing, LinkedIn, and how AI assistants are changing vendor research.
  • HubSpot or comparable CRM discipline and the organizational ability to manage 20 to 30 open conversations at once on a remote team.

Nice To Haves

  • Agency, consulting, or marketing services experience.
  • Experience selling or delivering B2B influencer, content, or SEO programs.
  • Experience selling to enterprise technology or SaaS marketing teams.
  • Familiarity with AI search optimization and audience research tools such as SparkToro.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to every inbound inquiry within one business day, reviewing CRM and email history first.
  • Profile prospects, including their company, market position, competitors, likely buying committee, and underlying needs; qualify budget authority and investment range before scheduling or investing in a call.
  • Run discovery calls using a written question set to establish budget, authority, need, and timeline, and secure access to the economic buyer before a proposal is drafted.
  • Develop proposals with the CEO and account leadership, matching prospect goals to programs and case studies, recommending pricing scenarios, and preparing scoping briefs.
  • Brief internal contributors on scope and deadlines, verify statistics and case-study figures against primary sources, and present proposals with prepared pre-reads and Q&A.
  • Negotiate within approved pricing guidance, prepare agreements for signature, and brief the account team at kickoff; do not perform unpaid work before signature.
  • Carry each opportunity to a decision: signed agreement, documented loss reason, or dated return point.
  • Keep HubSpot records current, including stage, value, source, next step, and lost reason; report pipeline, conversion, and response-time metrics weekly.
  • Share prospect questions and objections with marketing and leadership, and maintain the proposal playbook.

  • Generous paid time off.
  • 2 weeks of paid sick leave.
  • 10 paid holidays.
  • 401(k) plan with a 3% company contribution after 1 year of employment.
