In-Store Shopping Clerk
About The Position
The In-Store Shopping Clerk works in the store to shop and fulfill customers’ online orders using a mobile device with the Instacart Shopper App. The role focuses on customer service, product quality and freshness, communicating order changes and substitutions, and processing transactions through the in-store POS system. The clerk also serves as an online ambassador, answering questions about order delivery, the Instacart platform, and the service’s benefits. The position may assist with stocking shelves, filling frozen food bins, and maintaining store cleanliness and presentation. The role requires friendly, outgoing customer interactions, communication skills, and the ability to follow direction and work as part of a team. Physical tasks include standing, walking, and bending throughout the workday, maneuvering a utility cart, and walking up to three miles during an eight-hour shift.
Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude, with the ability to interact positively with customers.
- Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
- Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
- Be able to stand, walk, and bend throughout the entire workday.
- Be able to maneuver a utility cart holding 20 lbs., requiring a force of up to 35 lbs., for up to 2 hours and a distance of up to 20 feet.
- Be able to walk up to 3 miles in an 8-hour shift.
Responsibilities
- Shop and fulfill customers’ online orders using a mobile device equipped with the Instacart Shopper App.
- Provide excellent customer service while focusing on product quality and freshness, and substitute potential out-of-stock items.
- Communicate necessary changes to an order.
- Process order transactions using the in-store POS system.
- Answer questions about order delivery, the Instacart platform, and the benefits of using the service as an online ambassador for the store.
- May assist with stocking shelves, filling frozen food bins, and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the store.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
