In-Store Shopping Clerk
About The Position
The In-Store Shopping Clerk works in the store to shop for and fulfill customers’ online orders using a mobile device equipped with the Instacart Shopper App. The role focuses on delivering positive customer experiences by selecting fresh, high-quality products, handling potential out-of-stock substitutions, communicating order changes, and processing transactions through the in-store POS system. The clerk also serves as an online ambassador by answering questions about delivery, the Instacart platform, and the service’s benefits. Other store support may include stocking shelves, filling frozen food bins, and maintaining store cleanliness and presentation.
Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrate outgoing and friendly behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact positively with customers.
- Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
- Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
- Be able to stand, walk, and bend throughout the entire workday.
- Be able to maneuver a utility cart holding 20 lbs., requiring a force up to 35 lbs., for up to 2 hours and a distance up to 20 feet.
- Be able to walk up to 3 miles in an 8-hour shift.
Responsibilities
- Shop for and fulfill customers’ online orders using a mobile device equipped with the Instacart Shopper App.
- Provide excellent customer service by focusing on product quality and freshness and substituting potential out-of-stock items.
- Effectively communicate necessary changes to an order.
- Process order transactions using the in-store POS system.
- Answer questions about order delivery, the Instacart platform, and the benefits of using the service.
- May assist with stocking shelves, filling frozen food bins, and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the store.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
