About The Position

We are looking for a talented In-Shop Diesel Technician to join our team specializing in engine repairs for our Distribution Business in Jackson, MS. This role involves completing troubleshooting, repairs, and rebuilds on engine products and other customer equipment in a service shop. The technician will also perform preventative maintenance, utilize computers and software for diagnostics, and adhere to documented procedures and policies. Completing required documentation, ongoing training, and maintaining a safe work environment are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
A current valid license is required for this role
Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience
This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding engines.
The ideal candidate should possess a broad range of mechanical knowledge and be capable of performing complex diagnostics and repairs on a variety of equipment.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential.

Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
CDL Preferred

Responsibilities

Complete troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products and other customer equipment in a service shop.
Perform preventative maintenance based on assessment of engines, including utilizing computers/software in the process of diagnostic work.
Apply documented procedures and policies to complete complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
Completing required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
Ongoing training and additional certifications on new and existing Cummins products.
Adhere to all our relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor.
Disassemble, inspect, clean and reassemble engines and /or engine components.
Performs preventative maintenance based on assessment of engines.
Assists more experienced technicians with diagnostics and development of repair plans engines in the workshop.
Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
