About The Position

As an In-Home Direct Support Professional, you will provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety to individuals with disabilities through relationship building and direct interaction. You will support individuals in their homes or in the community and assist with developing and monitoring their individual plans, hopes, and dreams. You will help individuals develop essential living skills while maintaining or increasing their independence. The role also involves maintaining documentation and records and participating in periodic meetings and trainings in accordance with regulations. Staff are expected to advocate for the people they support, consistent with Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota’s expectations.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and a Motor Vehicle Check.
• Successfully meet the requirements of a background check.
• Successfully complete medication administration training.
• Computer and math skills.
• Ability to read, write, solve problems, and accept and follow through with directions.
• Good decision-making skills and ability to respond to emergency situations.
• Ability to recognize boundaries and exhibit patience, self-control, and flexibility.

Nice To Haves

• CPR/First Aid certification; it may be obtained after hire.
