About The Position

As an In-Home Direct Support Professional, you will provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety to individuals with disabilities through relationship building and direct interaction. You will support individuals in their homes or communities and assist with developing and monitoring their individual plans, hopes, and dreams. You will help individuals develop essential living skills and maintain or increase their independence. The role also involves maintaining documentation and records and participating in periodic meetings and trainings in accordance with regulations. Staff are expected to demonstrate advocacy skills consistent with Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota’s expectations.

The position pays $20 per hour and offers a $1,000 hiring bonus. To be eligible for the bonus, employees must work at least 40% FTE, remain current on all trainings, maintain employment in good standing, and work all scheduled shifts.

Requirements

• Hold a valid driver's license, have an acceptable driving record, and pass a Motor Vehicle Check.
• Successfully meet background check requirements.
• Successfully complete medication administration training.
• Have computer and math skills.
• Be able to read, write, solve problems, and accept and follow through with directions.
• Have good decision-making skills and the ability to respond to emergency situations.
• Be able to recognize boundaries and exhibit patience, self-control, and flexibility.

Nice To Haves

• CPR/First Aid certification is preferred; it may be obtained after hire.
