Implementation Manager

Outpost•Austin, TX

About The Position

Outpost is seeking an Implementation Manager to own and support end-to-end deployments of gate-guard technology and truck-yard infrastructure at Outpost and customer sites. The role joins an active implementation function with hardware in the field, live customer commitments, and a team of field technicians and engineers. The manager will deliver current deployments, assess open work, refine the operating model, and help scale the implementation playbook and function as the business grows. The position focuses on coordinating installation projects and maintaining installation quality across commercial-grade, multi-site deployments. The manager will support customer deployments from contract through go-live; coordinate schedules, hardware, subcontractors, technicians, and customer communications; monitor progress and risks; and help resolve issues across internal teams and external partners. Travel to customer sites is expected to average approximately 30%, varying with project volume, customer needs, and business priorities. The role also partners with Procurement, Operations, IT, and Engineering to align hardware, network readiness, and field resources. It maintains implementation records and contributes to commissioning checklists, site documentation, hardware configurations, deployment plans, SOPs, playbooks, and project templates. The manager owns day-to-day execution, while escalating strategic decisions and complex issues as needed. Success in the first year includes delivering deployments on or ahead of committed timelines, reducing installation quality defects, hiring and onboarding a Systems Integration PM, validating a playbook across multiple site types, and scaling the team for future deployment volume without sacrificing quality or schedules.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years leading physical technology deployments, site implementations, or field infrastructure rollouts, such as AV/low-voltage, access control, surveillance/VMS, networking, or edge compute.
  • Hands-on expertise in installation project management and installation quality control on commercial-grade builds, with direct ownership of customer outcomes.
  • Track record managing concurrent multi-site deployments with live customer commitments and personally running the schedule rather than relying on a vendor to do so.
  • Experience coordinating field technicians, IT/network engineers, third-party vendors, and client stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of network architecture sufficient to partner with IT/sysadmin teams.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% on average to client and Outpost sites across the United States.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year in a senior implementation, deployment, or product delivery leadership role.
  • Working proficiency with project management platforms such as Smartsheet or ClickUp, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and push back on AutoCAD site drawings.
  • Experience in early-stage or high-growth environments where processes are developed as the business grows.
  • Industry experience in logistics yards, trucking/fleet, parking and mobility, access control, or comparable infrastructure environments.
  • Prior remote-work experience and the discipline to run a function across time zones.
  • Deep expertise in systems integration and software-process delivery in addition to physical installation.
  • Hands-on experience with network testing, including Fluke certification of cable runs or megger testing, and ability to identify poor installation work.
  • Working understanding of point-to-point network hardware such as Ubiquiti or equivalent.
  • Background in access control, surveillance/VMS, networking, AV, edge compute, industrial automation, IoT, and/or gate automation equipment.
  • Experience managing deployments through a W2 field technician workforce and/or third-party installation network.
  • PMP or comparable formal project management certification.
  • Experience with Hanwha, Wisenet Wave/Network Optix, and/or ClickUp.
  • Track record of building operational teams, hiring specialists, and experimenting with AI to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Implementation Team in delivering customer deployments from contract through go-live.
  • Coordinate project schedules, hardware deliveries, subcontractors, and customer communications to keep implementations on track.
  • Track milestones, identify risks early, and drive issues toward resolution across internal teams and external partners.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to support deployments, installations, commissioning, and go-live activities; travel is generally expected to average approximately 30%.
  • Assist with scheduling installers and field technicians across active deployments.
  • Monitor installation progress and verify work meets Outpost quality standards and site specifications.
  • Conduct installation quality checks and escalate issues before they affect customer timelines or experience.
  • Partner with Procurement, Operations, IT, and Engineering to align hardware, network readiness, and field resources for deployments.
  • Coordinate vendor activities and maintain visibility into project status across multiple sites.
  • Support customer-facing implementation communications throughout the deployment process.
  • Maintain implementation documentation, including commissioning checklists, site records, hardware configurations, and deployment plans.
  • Contribute to installation playbooks, SOPs, and project templates as the implementation function scales.
  • Capture lessons learned and recommend process improvements to increase deployment efficiency and consistency.
  • Partner with the Implementation Team to execute deployment priorities across a growing portfolio of customer sites.
  • Own day-to-day project execution and escalate strategic decisions and complex issues as needed.
  • Help build repeatable processes that enable efficient scaling of implementations.
  • Deliver in-flight site deployments on or ahead of committed timelines and improve installation quality outcomes.
  • Hire and onboard a Systems Integration PM and support scaling the team for future deployment volume.
