Implementation Manager, Every Child

The ContingentPortland, OR
$90,000 - $95,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Contingent is a 501(c)(3) venture nonprofit focused on sparking and supporting initiatives to empower leaders and mobilize communities for the common good. Since our inception, we have leveraged the perspectives, skills, and needs of people of color and low-income community members to challenge the status quo and positively transform our communities. We ask hard questions. We take risks. And we link arms with our neighbors, including business partners, faith communities, and government agencies. From mentoring to mobilizing volunteers to restructuring systems that have been designed to work for some at the expense of others, we prioritize empowering and mobilizing leaders to transform their communities. For more information about The Contingent’s initiatives, please visit www.thecontingent.org. We are expanding Every Child to new states, and we are looking for someone to drive those launches across the finish line — on time, at high quality, and with state partners who feel supported every step of the way. This is a role for someone who finds deep satisfaction in executing well. You thrive with a clear goal, a complex set of moving parts, and real accountability for bringing it all together. You are the kind of person who makes lists, holds timelines, and feels genuinely good when the work lands. You will report to the Director of Product & Design and coordinate across engineering, marketing, customer experience, and data and evaluation to ensure each new state launch goes live smoothly. You will also train state staff and partner organizations on Every Child, building the materials and relationships that set them up for long-term success. You will work in close partnership with a State Relational Lead who manages the government relationship. While they own the relationship, you will partner closely with them to support state implementations and make sure state partners always know where things stand.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of experience in implementation, program management, or customer onboarding in a technology-enabled services environment — SaaS, gov tech, ed tech, or health tech experience is particularly relevant.
  • Experience working with or within government agencies, with a real understanding of how state systems move and why.
  • Track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder implementations from kickoff through completion.
  • Experience training non-technical users on technology products and building the materials that help them stick.
  • Fluent enough with technology to talk credibly with engineers and translate for partners who are not technical.
  • Clear, organized communicator — you keep people informed without overwhelming them, and you know how to adapt your style for a state government partner versus an internal engineering team.
  • Mission-connected — you care about the mission and are motivated by the idea that your work helps find more strategic homes for children in care.
  • Experience successfully working with a diverse group of constituents, utilizing multicultural intelligence, intentional listening, appreciation, and respect.
  • Ability to engage with a diverse group of constituents using multicultural intelligence, intentional listening, appreciation, and respect.
  • The ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse, perpetually changing environment, while maintaining a calm and positive spirit.
  • Effective communicator with strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills, experienced in engaging with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • The capability of handling ambiguity and driving the work autonomously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), experience with SharePoint, Asana, and Microsoft Teams is preferred.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or another CRM (Customer Relationship Management) platform.
  • Experience supporting teams of entry-level professionals and coaching rising leaders in their development.
  • Commitment to the mission of The Contingent, including Every Child, and The Script.
  • Relates well and works effectively with diverse groups of people who represent the range of ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to articulate a position on the importance of the faith community engaging vulnerable children, youth, and families.
  • Deep commitment to serving vulnerable kids, youth, and families and those in government who work with them.
  • Deep commitment to increasing the diversity of leadership in the communities we serve.
  • Continual growth mindset to develop and improve existing processes to enhance program efficiencies.
  • Demonstrates a passion for operational, technical, and customer experience excellence.
  • Flexible and receptive to constructive feedback.
  • Self-motivated leader that takes initiative.
  • Adaptable to changing situations and processes.
  • Possess cultural and emotional intelligence and an ability to work with a diverse group of leaders.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.

  • Manage up to two concurrent state implementations with focus and clarity.
  • Inherit an existing playbook and sharpen it based on what you learn in the field.
  • Document what works so every new state benefits from everything learned before.
