We are looking for an enthusiastic Co-op Research Assistant to be part of a multidisciplinary R&D team within our Immunoengineering team. In this role, you will directly support the development of our cutting-edge adrenal and immunoengineering platforms, with a primary focus on 2D and 3D cell culture and routine bioassays. Please note: This role will close applications on July 13.

Requirements

  • You are a student enrolled in biomedical engineering, cell biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or similar programs.
  • You have foundational knowledge or hands-on experience with sterile technique and maintaining cell lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply experimental rigor, notice technical nuances, and help troubleshoot challenging assay anomalies.
  • You have superior written and verbal communication skills. You are data-literate and capable of clearly documenting and presenting experimental findings.
  • You have outstanding attention to detail and process rigor. You take pride in maintaining an organized workspace and delivering high-quality, reproducible scientific data.

Nice To Haves

  • A passion for immunoengineering, tissue engineering, or 3D cell culture models is highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development and optimization of our adrenal and immunoengineering platforms.
  • Maintaining and expanding sensitive primary and immortalized cell lines in both 2D and 3D culture environments.
  • Executing regular bioassays, including cell viability assays, metabolic readouts, and ELISAs, to evaluate cell function and biomarker expression.
  • Sharing the operational load of our single-manned cell culture and hypoxia pipelines to increase experimental throughput and replicate critical assays.
  • Generating and maintaining clean, organized datasets documenting experimental replicates and functional outcomes.
  • Documenting all work meticulously and identifying experimental anomalies to assist in troubleshooting and assay optimization.
  • Adapting to evolving team priorities by providing flexible, cross-functional support across multiple teams within translational engineering.

Benefits

  • Our ranges are based on market data. Offered salaries will be based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. For candidates who exceed role requirements, we are open to exploring above-range offers.
