About The Position

This role operates equipment and performs procedures and diagnostics in a minimum of two or more modalities including Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography, Radiologic, and/or Interventional Radiologic. The position involves reviewing patient medical records, obtaining necessary clinical information, and ensuring exam accuracy by comparing requisitions to physician orders. Patient safety regarding radiation and magnetic protection is a key responsibility. The technologist will position patients, select scanning factors, attain appropriate images, and may prepare and administer contrast media under radiologist direction. Image post-processing, accurate labeling, and record maintenance in accordance with regulatory agencies are also required. The role includes documenting patient and study information in the radiology information system and entering billing codes. Identifying and reporting equipment performance issues, performing quality assurance tests, and evaluating new products are part of the duties. The position also involves patient positioning and transporting, which requires lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique. The technologist must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.

Requirements

  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • No experience required.
  • Must meet all knowledge and competency requirements at the competent level for a minimum of two modalities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Must have clear speech, vision and hearing.

  • Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g.DNV, CARF or others).

Responsibilities

  • Operates equipment and performs procedures and diagnostics in a minimum of two or more of the following modalities: Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography, Radiologic, and/or Interventional Radiologic.
  • Reviews patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders, obtains necessary clinical information from patients, and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Provides patient with radiation/magnetic protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusts factors and attains the appropriate images.
  • May prepare and administer contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist.
  • Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
  • Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Identifies equipment performance issues and performs equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff and evaluates new products and equipment.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
