Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of pipewelding experience.
  • Experience in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding.
  • Experience with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) also known as "stick welding”.
  • Ability to pass military standard X-Ray welding test on stainless steel and copper nickel in the 6G position (restricted).
  • Ability to pass a military specification welding assessment in the vertical (3G), horizontal (2G) and overhead (4G) positions.
  • Pipe welding test is given in a restricted position (6 G) on a 5'' schedule 80 carbon steel pipe.
  • GTAW (TIG) process used for root pass, 11018 electrode used for weld fill portion and cap.

Responsibilities

  • Performing pipe welding procedures on Stainless Steel and Copper-Nickel pipe using Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding.
  • Working in an around the clock manufacturing setting.
  • Working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day.
  • May be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time.
  • Practicing working safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards.
  • Utilizing various welding processes, including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) also known as "stick welding” and Flux-Core Arc Welding (FCAW) also known as “wire welding.”
