About The Position

The Imaging Workflow Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between radiologists, medical staff from various facilities, and Teleradiology sites. This role is crucial for supporting patient care workflow and reading processes by ensuring appropriate work distribution, adhering to operational guidelines, and providing excellent customer service through effective communication. The Imaging Workflow Coordinator is a key decision-maker, requiring strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative skills to facilitate patient care. This customer-focused role involves connecting with others via remote technology in a fast-paced, variable, and dynamic environment. Daily tasks include administrative support, working within clinical programs, and managing incoming communications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience working in a healthcare environment.
  • Ability to learn radiology information systems (RIS), mammography information systems (MIS), Dictation and image archival, and workflow management system (within PACS).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, variable environment.
  • Must be well organized with high attention to detail.
  • Must be solution-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Support patient care workflow and reading processes by distributing work appropriately.
  • Follow workflow guidelines from Operations directives.
  • Communicate effectively to provide good customer service.
  • Problem-solve issues with strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Learn and utilize radiology information systems (RIS), mammography information systems (MIS), Dictation and image archival, and workflow management systems (within PACS).
  • Merge/link imaging exams, fix system exceptions, and track down outside imaging exams.
  • Monitor imaging exams for appropriate turnaround times and assist in meeting standards.
  • Communicate effectively with Radiologists, understanding and adhering to workflow details for appropriate case distribution.
  • Learn community partners and JV workflow (images, report transmission, Teleradiology) and distribution of subspecialty work.
  • Assist in team staffing due to unexpected shortages.
  • Continuously learn and develop job responsibilities as workflow needs change.
  • Take initiative for continued growth in job duties and request additional assistance/training.
  • Ensure clinical workflows, data management, and application processes support reliable, accurate, scalable, and timely reporting.
  • Support billing reconciliation through procedure and report updates.
  • Complete other tasks and projects as assigned.
