Requirements

  • High School Graduate/GED / Equivalent required.
  • 2-4 years of experience within medical or imaging field required.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy required.
  • Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills required.
  • Advanced computer skills including email, excel, Microsoft applications and ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record System, RIS and PACS Systems.
  • Travel to satellite locations as needed.

  • Knowledge of Radiology critical results reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in meetings/work groups to ensure communication and knowledge of operational activities and overall customer satisfaction outcomes in the Imaging department.
  • Understanding of Mammography Birad coding.
  • Ensure all breast imaging exams get read in a timely manner.
  • Track and monitor all Imaging follow-up tasks as required.
  • Act as a liaison between the Radiologists and the staff in communicating required changes or improvements for processes related to the Imaging department.
  • Assist referring offices with scheduling appointments or any other concerns as it pertains to Imaging.
  • Communicate any physician or patient concerns to management and staff to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Maintain open communication with the SMG breast navigation team and the SMG breast surgeon’s offices in regard to processes and workflows.
  • Answer all patient questions related to breast imaging and services provided by SMG CITYMD.
  • Provide one on one support to Imaging patients with special concerns.
  • Obtain and upload patient prior imaging exams and reports for comparison purposes.
  • Schedules all call backs within 24-48 hours; log all results; prepares certified letters after documenting unsuccessful attempts to contact patient.
  • Prepare monthly call back statistics required by MQSA.
  • Enter orders for imaging exams in RIS as needed.
  • Call and schedule diagnostic mammography exams. (callbacks)
  • Schedule targeted mammography exams in follow up to Breast MRI’s.
  • Assist breast center with scheduling breast imaging including, diagnostic mammograms, ultrasound exams, breast MRI’s, biopsies and needle localizations.
  • Email daily breast MRI schedule to appropriate breast Radiologist and coordinate any additional imaging from the exam results to the referring providers.
  • Confirm that all patient Imaging results go out in a timely manner to ensure compliance.
  • Retrieve pathology results for all Imaging sites and enter results into RIS.
  • Confirm all addendums are given to the appropriate Radiologist and that results are sent to patient.
  • Communicate Radiology critical results and incidental findings in a timely manner while following the proper workflow.
  • Act as central liaison for any calls from referring offices requiring assistance from the Radiologists.
  • Ensure the transmission of mammography result letters to patient portal.
  • Preparation and distribution of mammography reminder letters to patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and compliance of safety, OSHA, and HIPPA regulations.
  • Attends mandatory in-services.
  • Other job duties as required.
  • Demonstrates flexibility with various work schedules, covers for other staff when asked including other Imaging office locations.
