The Imaging Support Specialist provides clerical and customer service support in a busy radiology department. The role greets and checks in patients, enters exams into the Radiology Information System (RIS), verifies orders and insurance-related requirements, schedules exams, handles telephone calls and paperwork, processes reports, and fulfills image requests. Specialists typically focus on one or more clerical assignments, with duties varying according to departmental needs, and work independently with little supervision. They interact with patients, physicians, hospital staff, and outside facilities to provide accurate, timely, and responsive radiology imaging information. The work area has high traffic, constant low-to-moderate noise, and frequent interruptions. The position involves walking, standing, sitting, lifting, and pushing, pulling, and moving equipment.
