The Imaging Support Specialist provides clerical and customer-service support in a busy radiology department. The role greets and checks in patients, enters exams into the Radiology Information System (RIS), verifies orders and insurance-related information, schedules exams, answers calls, processes paperwork and reports, and fulfills requests for images. Specialists typically focus on one or more clerical assignments, with duties varying according to department needs. They work independently with little supervision and communicate with patients, physicians, hospital staff, and outside facilities to provide accurate, timely information about radiology imaging. The work area has high traffic, constant low-to-moderate noise, and frequent interruptions. The position involves walking, standing, sitting, lifting, and pushing, pulling, and moving equipment.
