About The Position
The Imaging Support Specialist aids technologists with patient care and schedule facilitation. The role handles patient-care activities that do not fall under regulated technologist responsibilities, including preparing patients for exams, assisting patients into and out of exam rooms, cleaning and preparing exam rooms, and transporting patients. The position is based at Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus in Indianapolis, Indiana. The schedule is days, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., at 1.0 FTE. Travel is never or rarely required. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in a hospital or patient-care setting.
Nice To Haves
- Basic Life Support (BLS) program through the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities
- Assist technologists throughout procedures as requested.
- Demonstrate age-specific competencies to provide appropriate care to patients.
- Use proper body mechanics when moving, positioning, or transferring patients.
- Use appropriate tools and techniques to assist with patient care, including monitors, equipment, and visual observation.
- Use AIDET to explain procedures and promote patient comfort and safety.
- Communicate appropriately with patients, staff, and family members to facilitate care.
- Record appropriate information in the EMR while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Apply knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology, psychosocial considerations, and medical terminology.
- Follow ALARA principles, safety precautions, and regulatory rules and guidelines.
- Use proper cleaning supplies and techniques in accordance with infection-control policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team.
- Prepare patients for exams, assist them into and out of exam rooms, clean and prepare exam rooms, and transport patients.
