About The Position

Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Radiologic Technologist. This includes cleaning patient rooms, operating various equipment, assisting with emergencies, and managing patient flow. The role involves preparing rooms, setting up equipment, and ensuring cleanliness. The assistant supports cost-efficient care delivery and participates in quality improvement initiatives. A key responsibility is responding to emergency patient situations and performing CPR. Specific training in MRI safety, patient transport, and the use of MRI-compatible equipment is required. The position also involves maintaining patient confidentiality, completing additional training on PPE, patient moving techniques, and equipment care (telemetry boxes, IV pumps, oxygen tanks). The assistant provides information regarding patient schedules, assists in transferring patients between various mobility aids and diagnostic equipment, and escorts patients within the facility. Multitasking and prioritizing patient requests based on need are essential. Excellent customer service is expected, including communicating the imaging appointment process to patients and family members. The role is crucial for ensuring a positive patient experience at Emory Healthcare. Room preparation, equipment setup, and maintaining cleanliness are ongoing tasks. The assistant is also responsible for maintaining stocks of supplies, drugs, and linens, and may assist with supply inventory management.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification required upon hiring.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Some college preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Radiologic Technologist.
  • Cleans patient rooms and ensures neatness and cleanliness.
  • Operates various equipment.
  • Assists with emergencies and initiates emergency life-saving techniques such as CPR.
  • Prepares room to receive patient and sets up necessary equipment.
  • Assists with preparing patients for procedures.
  • Supports cost efficient/effective delivery of care.
  • Participates in department based and hospital-wide Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Required to complete MRI Safety training, follow safety measures when transporting patients to and from MRI, and have knowledge of proper use of MRI compatible equipment.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient records and information.
  • Must complete additional training upon hiring as related to appropriate PPE use, patient moving techniques, patient equipment care training for telemetry boxes, IV pumps, oxygen tanks and more.
  • Gives and/or receives information regarding patient schedule when appropriate.
  • Assist the clinical team to transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, beds and diagnostic equipment with minimal disruption to patient.
  • Assists ambulatory and wheelchair patients to and from diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Escorts or directs patients to rooms or departments within the facility.
  • May assist with patient transportation via wheelchair, stretcher or bed.
  • Must be able to multitask and manage numerous patient requests at once and prioritize requests based on patient need.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the patients and clinical teams they support.
  • Communicates to patients and family members the general overview and process the imaging appointment.
  • Maintains stocks of supplies, drugs, linens as needed before, during and after patient visits.
  • May assist with supply inventory including receiving, maintaining par levels, stocking shelves, etc.
