About The Position

Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Radiologic Technologist. Responsibilities include cleaning patient rooms, operating various equipment, assisting with emergencies, and managing patient flow. The role involves preparing rooms for patients, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring cleanliness. It also includes assisting with patient preparation for procedures, supporting cost-efficient care delivery, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The assistant must respond immediately to emergencies, perform CPR, and complete MRI Safety training, adhering to safety measures during patient transport and using MRI-compatible equipment. Maintaining patient confidentiality is crucial. Additional training will be provided upon hiring for PPE use, patient moving techniques, and equipment care (telemetry boxes, IV pumps, oxygen tanks, etc.). The role also involves providing information regarding patient schedules, assisting clinical teams with patient transfers to and from various equipment and locations, and escorting patients within the facility. Multitasking and prioritizing patient requests based on need are essential. The position requires providing excellent customer service to patients, families, and clinical teams, communicating general overviews of imaging appointments. The assistant works closely with patients, providers, and imaging technologists/nurses, playing a key role in ensuring a positive patient experience. Responsibilities also include maintaining stocks of supplies, drugs, and linens, and potentially assisting with supply inventory management.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent.
BLS certification required upon hiring.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Some college preferred.
Required to complete MRI Safety training, follow safety measures when transporting patients to and from MRI, and have knowledge of proper use of MRI compatible equipment.
Must complete additional training upon hiring as related to appropriate PPE use, patient moving techniques, patient equipment care training for telemetry boxes, IV pumps, oxygen tanks and more.

Responsibilities

Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Radiologic Technologist.
Cleans patient rooms and operates various equipment.
Assists with emergencies and patient flow.
Prepares rooms to receive patients, sets up necessary equipment, and ensures neatness and cleanliness.
Assists with preparing patients for procedures.
Supports cost efficient/effective delivery of care.
Participates in department based and hospital-wide Continuous Quality Improvement.
Responds immediately to emergency patient situations and initiates emergency life-saving techniques such as CPR using high quality resuscitation Basic Life Support.
Completes MRI Safety training and follows safety measures when transporting patients to and from MRI, and has knowledge of proper use of MRI compatible equipment.
Maintains confidentiality of patient records and information.
Performs related responsibilities as required.
Gives and/or receives information regarding patient schedule when appropriate.
Assists the clinical team to transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, beds and diagnostic equipment with minimal disruption to patient.
Assists ambulatory and wheelchair patients to and from diagnostic imaging equipment.
Escorts or directs patients to rooms or departments within the facility.
May assist with patient transportation via wheelchair, stretcher or bed.
Must be able to multitask and manage numerous patient requests at once and prioritize requests based on patient need.
Provide excellent customer service to the patients and clinical teams they support while communicating to patients and family members the general overview and process the imaging appointment.
Prepares rooms for patient visits; sets up necessary equipment and ensures neatness and cleanliness of room.
Maintains stocks of supplies, drugs, linens as needed before, during and after patient visits.
May assist with supply inventory including receiving, maintaining par levels, stocking shelves, etc.
