About The Position

Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Radiologic Technologist. This role involves cleaning patient rooms, operating various equipment, assisting with emergencies, and supporting patient flow. The assistant prepares rooms for patients, sets up necessary equipment, and ensures the cleanliness of the environment. They may also assist with preparing patients for procedures and support cost-efficient delivery of care. A key responsibility includes responding to emergency patient situations and initiating life-saving techniques such as CPR. The role requires completing MRI Safety training, adhering to safety measures during patient transport to and from MRI, and understanding the use of MRI-compatible equipment. Maintaining patient confidentiality is crucial. Additional training upon hiring will cover appropriate PPE use, patient moving techniques, and equipment care for telemetry boxes, IV pumps, and oxygen tanks. The position also involves giving and receiving patient schedule information, assisting clinical teams with patient transfers, and escorting patients. Multitasking and prioritizing patient requests based on need are essential. Providing excellent customer service to patients, families, and clinical teams, and communicating the general overview of imaging appointments are also key duties. The assistant helps maintain stocks of supplies, drugs, and linens, and may assist with supply inventory management.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent.
BLS certification required upon hiring.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Some college preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Radiologic Technologist.
Cleans the patients room, operates various equipment, helps with emergencies and assists with patient flow.
Prepares room to receive patient; sets up necessary equipment and ensures neatness and cleanliness of room.
Assists with preparing patients for procedures.
Supports cost efficient/effective delivery of care.
Participates in department based and hospital-wide Continuous Quality Improvement.
Responds immediately to emergency patient situations; initiates emergency life-saving techniques such as CPR using high quality resuscitation Basic Life Support.
Completes MRI Safety training, follows safety measures when transporting patients to and from MRI, and has knowledge of proper use of MRI compatible equipment.
Maintains confidentiality of patient records and information.
Completes additional training upon hiring as related to appropriate PPE use, patient moving techniques, patient equipment care training for telemetry boxes, IV pumps, oxygen tanks and more.
Gives and/or receives information regarding patient schedule when appropriate.
Assist the clinical team to transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, beds and diagnostic equipment with minimal disruption to patient.
Assists ambulatory and wheelchair patients to and from diagnostic imaging equipment.
Escorts or directs patients to rooms or departments within the facility.
May assist with patient transportation via wheelchair, stretcher or bed.
Multitasks and manages numerous patient requests at once and prioritizes requests based on patient need.
Provide excellent customer service to the patients and clinical teams they support while communicating to patients and family members the general overview and process the imaging appointment.
Prepares rooms for patient visits; sets up necessary equipment and ensures neatness and cleanliness of room.
Maintains stocks of supplies, drugs, linens as needed before, during and after patient visits.
May assist with supply inventory including receiving, maintaining par levels, stocking shelves, etc.
