About The Position

MedVet is seeking an ICU Veterinary Doctor Coordinator to support doctors and departmental workflow during overnight shifts. The role supports specific doctors, coordinating consults, transfers, diagnostics, client communications, medical records, and outpatient procedures. The proposed schedule is Sunday through Tuesday, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The position is based in a fast-paced clinical environment where priorities and cases can change quickly.

Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant-rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Previous emergency experience.

Responsibilities

• Directly support specific doctors during a shift and, as needed, support different doctors within the department at different times.
• Ensure follow-through on departmental workflow for supported doctors.
• Collaborate on scheduling consults, transfers, and diagnostics.
• Delegate team responsibilities as appropriate, including case rounds and diagnostic scheduling and information management.
• Serve as the point of contact for referral partner transfers and inquiries when a doctor is unavailable.
• Provide departmental client communications about cases, including concerns, care plans, and questions when the doctor is absent.
• Draft medical record documentation for supported doctors, including initial patient histories, vital statistics, treatment orders, referral letters, and discharge or dismissal letters for doctor review.
• Monitor doctors’ emails and voicemails.
• Assist with and ensure completion of outpatient procedures as required, such as bandage changes, post-operative radiographs, diagnostic samples, and medication administration.
• Escort outpatient clients to and from exam rooms and prepare or maintain exam rooms as needed.
• Mentor or train team members as needed.
• Coordinate and delegate prescription refills to team members as needed.
