RN - ICU
About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our team in a mixed acuity unit, providing care for both intermediate care and non-vented ICU level patients. The unit, located on 4 South, has 18 beds and primarily cares for neurological and post-procedural patients, including those recovering from TNK, Neuro IR procedures (Embolizations, angiography), hemorrhages/aneurysms, burr holes, post VP shunt placements, and post craniotomy/craniectomy. The unit also manages conditions involving respiratory failure, CHF, hypotension, sepsis, acute neurological diagnoses, DKA, and electrolyte abnormalities. The patient-to-RN ratio is 1:3 based on acuity, with a CNA ratio of 1:12.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of ICU experience required.
- First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.
- ACLS certification required.
- BLS certification required.
- NIHSS certification required.
- Experience managing patients on BiPAP/CPAP.
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation and monitoring of hemodynamic lines.
- Proficient in handling post-surgical drains, tracheostomies, and chest tubes.
- Ability to manage titratable drips.
Responsibilities
- Provide care for both intermediate care and non-vented ICU level patients.
- Manage neurological and post-procedural patients.
- Care for patients with conditions involving respiratory failure, CHF, hypotension, sepsis, acute neurological diagnoses, DKA, and electrolyte abnormalities.
- Manage patients on BiPAP/CPAP.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic lines.
- Handle post-surgical drains, tracheostomies, and chest tubes.
- Manage titratable drips, including but not limited to Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Esmolol, Insulin, Cardene, Nitro, Levophed, and Epinephrine.
