About The Position

An opportunity exists for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment. The position will primarily be at a facility in Lakewood, WA, with the requirement to float to other facilities within the region as needed.

The ICU unit consists of 10 beds with a standard nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2. The unit handles various medical and surgical cases, requiring adept management of critical drips and patient care. There are no designated nurse aides on the unit, and a charge nurse is available on every shift for support. Respiratory therapy is available in-house 24/7, providing necessary equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilators.

The schedule is nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM. Every other weekend is required, with reasonable requests for time off accepted. Rotational holiday requirements apply with permanent staff. Orientation includes meeting with a unit educator and one full shift of training.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of critical care nursing experience.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Proficiency in EHR systems.
• Ability to float to multiple locations within the region as needed.
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care in the Intensive Care Unit, monitoring and managing critical patients.
• Titrate and manage intravenous medications effectively, including sedation and vasoactive agents.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Conduct ongoing assessments and document patient conditions and responses to treatment.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
• Float to Progressive Care Units or Med Surg as required, adhering to established patient ratios.
• Float to other facilities within the region as needed.
