About The Position

This is a self-scheduling full-time position for an ICU/Critical Care Registered Nurse within the Western Market Regional Resource Pool, serving Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital (SMJH), Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center (SNVMC), and Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital (SRMH). The role offers a flexible work schedule, self-scheduling capabilities, premium pay, and a resource pool differential. The Registered Nurse is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess the clinical knowledge and skills to meet the standards required by specific clinical areas.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse Diploma (Required)
  • Registered Nurse License (Required)
  • Minimum of 18 months of acute care RN experience.
  • Available to work 36 hours per week (Full-time status).
  • Minimum of 144 hours per month scheduled.
  • 48 hours scheduled on a weekend shift.
  • 48 hours scheduled on an off shift (any shifts that start after 3pm).
  • Must reside within 75 miles and 90 minutes of two hospitals in the Northern Virginia or Blue Ridge region (Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital, and Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital).

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Adhere to standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
  • Uphold standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Utilize clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
  • Work in all units for which they are qualified and a minimum of two different units.
  • Provide availability to work no more than two weeks in advance.
