Job Summary and Responsibilities As our ICU Charge Nurse, you will help your frontline nursing team navigate the daily challenges of high-acuity patient care so they can deliver exceptional clinical outcomes and reach their full professional potential while meeting unit goals. Every day you will oversee department operations and advocate for your fellow nurses by identifying and addressing the unique needs of your patients, staff, and unit. You'll be expected to drive clinical excellence, manage overall unit performance, and confidently lead both 1:1 interactions and group communications. To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate high personal accountability, exceptional communication skills, and the confidence to navigate tough conversations to ensure staff and unit accountability.
Requirements
- Two (2) years RN experience within applicable clinical specialty and/or charge nurse experience
- AZ RN license
- AHA BLS and ACLS
- Associate's degree of Nursing or foreign equivalent
Nice To Haves
- CVICU experience or Critical Care Charge Nurse
- Bachelor's Degree of Nursing
- Certification in Specialty
Responsibilities
- Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals, and participation in inservice education
- Coaches to improve care
- Provides direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of the patients and department
- Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel
- Coordinates patient flow on the unit to facilitate the provision of timely and effective care
- Demonstrates appropriate prioritization and critical thinking skills in critical situations
