About The Position

The Ice Technician performs daily activities required to maintain proper ice conditions and ice-maintenance equipment in accordance with facility standards, while assisting with other operations in a manner that supports The Rinks’ values. The role includes operating and maintaining ice-resurfacing equipment, monitoring ice and facility conditions, supporting events and general facility upkeep, and providing a safe and positive experience for guests and associates. The position is on-site and starts at $23.00 per hour.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must complete Ice Maintenance training with a certified The Rinks Maintenance Associate within a 90-day training period.
Must pass written, oral, and practical Zamboni and Ice Maintenance exams with a score of at least 80%.
Able to work a flexible schedule with varying days and hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
Able to read equipment manuals and safety procedures, write reports, update logbooks, and document repairs.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Required experience: 0–1 year.

Responsibilities

Operate ice-resurfacing machines skillfully, professionally, and safely.
Perform ice resurfaces efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner.
Coordinate maintenance of on-ice and off-ice issues and contribute to events and activities.
Safeguard public sessions and monitor activity on the ice and in other controlled areas.
Provide enthusiastic guest service and communicate and collaborate with the team.
Follow first-aid, emergency, OSHA, and facility safety procedures; promptly report safety or security concerns.
Maintain ice-related equipment in safe, operable condition and report repairs or recommendations.
Assist with repairs to ice-resurfacing equipment and follow manufacturer specifications and maintenance certification safety standards.
Complete daily voltmeter, hydrometer, and compressor readings and help document air-quality meter readings.
Edge the ice daily and monitor ice conditions, removing debris from the ice and surrounding areas.
Maintain facility housekeeping standards in areas including the Zamboni room, compressor room, lobby, bleachers, restrooms, meeting spaces, locker rooms, and offices.
Assist with facility maintenance projects and general maintenance.
Set up and maintain facility signage and displays where applicable.
Maintain ice resurfacers in accordance with the daily maintenance logbook and document necessary repairs or recommendations.
Adhere to The Rinks policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
