About The Position

The Ice Technician is responsible for daily activities required to maintain proper ice conditions and ice-maintenance equipment in accordance with facility standards, while assisting with other operations in a manner that supports The Rinks’ values. This on-site role supports safe, high-quality ice rink operations and guest experiences at The Rinks Foundation.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Complete Ice Maintenance training with a certified The Rinks Maintenance Associate within a 90-day training period.
Pass written, oral, and practical Zamboni and Ice Maintenance exams with a score of 80% or higher.
Able to work a flexible schedule with varying days and hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
Able to read equipment manuals and safety procedures and write reports, update logbooks, and document repairs.
High school diploma or equivalent.
0–1 year of experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; service-minded, motivated, enthusiastic, energetic, and professional.
Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a variety of individuals and personalities.

Nice To Haves

Ice rink operations experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate ice-resurfacing machines professionally, safely, efficiently, and accurately.
Coordinate maintenance of on-ice and off-ice issues and contribute to the timely execution of events and activities.
Safeguard public sessions, monitor activity on the ice and in other controlled areas, and provide enthusiastic guest service.
Communicate and work as a team to support optimal guest service; follow first-aid and emergency procedures.
Follow OSHA safety standards, report safety or security concerns promptly, and use equipment and materials according to manufacturer specifications.
Maintain ice-related equipment in safe, operable condition; assist with repairs and promptly report issues or recommendations.
Complete daily ice-maintenance voltmeter, hydrometer, and compressor readings, and assist in documenting air-quality meter readings.
Edge the ice daily, monitor ice conditions, and remove debris from the ice surface and surrounding areas.
Maintain facility housekeeping standards in areas including the Zamboni room, compressor room, lobby, bleachers, restrooms, meeting spaces, locker rooms, and offices.
Assist with facility maintenance projects and general maintenance throughout the facility.
Set up and maintain facility signage and displays where applicable.
Maintain ice resurfacers according to the daily maintenance logbook and document necessary repairs or recommendations.
Adhere to all The Rinks policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
