About The Position
The Ice Rink Attendant creates a warm, safe, and memorable skating experience at Hotel Jerome’s courtyard rink. The role welcomes guests, manages check-in, fits and sanitizes skating equipment, supervises rink use, supports events, and maintains rink areas, equipment, records, and service standards. Work takes place outdoors in winter conditions and includes evenings, weekends, school holidays, and peak periods.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a guest-facing role.
- Friendly demeanor, ability to remain calm under pressure, and clear communication skills.
- Comfort enforcing safety rules.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in winter conditions.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, school holidays, and peak periods.
Nice To Haves
- Rink, ice, recreation, ski, or hospitality experience.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests, manage queues, verify waivers, process payments, and explain rink rules, schedules, and capacity limits.
- Size, fit, and sanitize skates and helmets; help guests lace and adjust equipment; issue skate aids as needed.
- Monitor ice conditions and guest behavior, pace sessions, and enforce safety rules courteously.
- Respond to slips and falls, provide basic first aid, complete incident reports, and escalate issues to Security or a Manager as needed.
- Perform light ice maintenance between sessions, including shoveling, squeegeeing, and edging.
- Set up and reset the rink deck, including benches, mats, signage, and queue stanchions, and maintain clear five-foot egress around the perimeter.
- Track equipment inventory, sanitize and rack skates and helmets, sharpen skates according to schedule, and flag repairs or defects.
- Support holiday activations, family sessions, and private rentals.
- Operate the POS, reconcile session counts and cash or charge summaries, and maintain opening and closing checklists and logs.
- Wear hotel-issued outerwear, suitable personal cold-weather base layers, and closed-toe, slip-resistant footwear; follow brand grooming standards.
