ICC Special Inspector

Westex Consulting Engineers•Reno, NV
•$35

About The Position

Westex Consulting Engineers is hiring ICC-certified Special Inspectors for its Special Inspection and Construction Materials Testing group in Reno, Nevada. Special Inspectors provide independent, third-party verification that critical structural work on commercial and civil projects complies with approved plans, specifications, and building codes. The role carries significant accountability, and inspectors' judgment and documentation directly support public safety. The position involves code-required inspections under the International Building Code and each project's Statement of Special Inspections. Inspectors examine work within the scope of their certifications, document findings, communicate discrepancies, and coordinate with construction and project teams. Westex has a strong pipeline of projects across the Reno area and supports inspectors seeking to broaden their certifications. Continued certifications can expand the inspections an employee can perform and bring added responsibility and higher pay. This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Compensation starts at $35 per hour and depends on experience, including inspection experience and the number and type of certifications held. Inspection schedules follow construction schedules, so early starts are common and schedules may shift with project needs. Some weekend and occasional night work should be expected.
