City of Charlotte•Charlotte, NC
•$108,851 - $156,474

About The Position

The I&T Systems Architect defines, maintains, and governs the City’s enterprise technology architecture. The role develops technology plans, standards, roadmaps, and solution designs that guide system selection, implementation, integration, and support, ensuring technology decisions align with business needs, long-term strategies, and regulatory and cybersecurity requirements. Serving as a central liaison among customer department stakeholders, technology teams, vendors, project managers, and leadership, the architect translates business goals, functional needs, and operational constraints into architectural direction, requirements, and solution approaches. The position helps shape technology investments through standards development, proposals, procurement support, and architectural review. The architect leads across the solution lifecycle, from discovery and evaluation of alternatives through architecture development and guidance on design, implementation, and governance. The role helps ensure the City’s technology environment is secure, scalable, cost-effective, and responsive to changing city priorities.
