About The Position

The Hydrovac Operator operates hydrovac equipment using high-pressure water and vacuum systems to excavate precisely, uncover utilities, and support construction projects. The work takes place in a variety of environments, including confined spaces. Operators also drive hydrovac trucks for approximately 10–15% of their work time. The position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and the successful applicant may be required to join the union as a condition of employment. Union wages and benefits will be discussed directly with the Branch Manager. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided. Candidates must undergo a physical examination and pre-employment screening, including a driver’s abstract review and drug and alcohol testing.

Requirements

Valid Class A or B CDL.
Ability to work variable shifts with extended hours.
Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Ability to lift, push, and pull 50+ pounds and physical stamina for manual labor in varying weather conditions.
At least 21 years of age.
Customer-service focus and comfort interacting with customers.
Enthusiasm for working as part of a safety-focused, collaborative team.
Technology adeptness.

Nice To Haves

CPR/First Aid, Fall Protection, and OSHA 10 certifications.
Experience driving a manual transmission (10–18 speed) without automatic restrictions.
Prior hydrovac equipment operation or related industrial experience.

Responsibilities

Operate hydrovac equipment and perform hydrovac duties in a variety of working environments, including confined spaces.
Drive hydrovac trucks for approximately 10–15% of total work time.
Attend safety meetings.
Perform routine inspections and minor repairs of hydrovac equipment.
Prepare work areas by setting up safety measures and addressing potential hazards.
Accurately and efficiently document and report required Badger, Federal, State, and Customer paperwork.
