HVAC Technician - Level 1
About The Position
The HVAC Technician 1 provides professional, customer-focused service while delivering, installing, and servicing portable HVAC rental equipment. The role demonstrates the safe use, operation, and repair of company equipment and trains authorized operators or customers in its safe use. The position works primarily in the shop, keeping the area organized, clean, and safe; checking in, cleaning, and preparing equipment for rental; and supporting other technicians on larger jobs. It also includes emergency service response on a rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in a service-related role interacting with customers.
- Basic math skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record free from points.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Ability to work some after-hours and weekend hours during peak times.
Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with customers, managers, and sales engineers to schedule deliveries, pickups, and service calls.
- Deliver and install rented HVAC equipment and train authorized operators or customers in its safe use.
- Direct customers to sign the appropriate paperwork and track equipment serial numbers.
- Troubleshoot the operation, function, specifications, capabilities, and controls of rental equipment.
- Operate company vehicles safely and follow company safety policies.
- Clean and test returned equipment to ensure its operation and appearance meet standards.
- Complete paperwork for deliveries, pickups, and service calls.
- Install flexible gas hose for propane and natural gas applications.
- Use proper and safe procedures to check gas connections.
- Work with managers and sales engineers to maintain accurate records and tracking of in-stock and rented equipment.
- Keep the shop organized, clean, and safe; check in, clean, and prepare equipment for rental; and support other technicians on large jobs.
- Provide emergency service response on a rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends.
