About The Position

Under general direction from the Facilities Supervisor, this role is responsible for performing general maintenance, preventive maintenance, service, and repair to commercial HVAC equipment and commercial kitchen appliances, refrigeration, and equipment. The position requires maintaining confidentiality of all privileged information. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, unless waived by Human Resources Management.
  • Two (2) years of experience in large commercial building systems.
  • Knowledge of the principles, theories, and operation of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, heating equipment, steam generation plants, and ventilation systems required.
  • A valid California Driver’s License is required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.
  • Knowledge of HVAC installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of refrigerant recovery.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment, plumbing, utilities, distribution systems, and controls, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC and associated control systems employing computer-based monitoring and control devices.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, low temp refrigeration, commercial kitchen equipment and/or kitchen gas equipment.
  • Knowledge of 24/7 environments and how to perform work.
  • Knowledge of proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
  • Knowledge and ability to order parts, supplies, or service manuals related to equipment or repairs.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).
  • Skill in the proper and safe use of all hand and power tools.
  • Ability to maintain superior guest service to all internal and external customers.
  • Ability to produce quality workmanship on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to safely and productively use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published O & M guidelines and other industry/manufacturer standards.
  • Knowledge and ability to assemble work scopes or parameters, including cost estimates associated with HVAC and kitchen equipment as pertinent to the needed work or services.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical problems such as shorts, outages, faulty equipment, or other electrical malfunctions.
  • Ability to repair and/or replace building mechanical systems components, including programmable logic controls.
  • Ability to use computer-based monitoring and control devices in maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC systems.
  • Ability to develop maintenance schedule for all HVAC commercial equipment and maintain records.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural/mechanical blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to read, interpret and execute equipment operations & maintenance manuals and other recommended standards.

  • Completion of HVAC School and HVAC Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and performs monthly preventive maintenance inspections on all HVAC commercial and commercial kitchen equipment and appliances.
  • Inspects, repairs and maintains all casino RTU’S, VAV, Chillers, Humidifiers, fan coils, pumps, reach in and walk in coolers and freezers, ice machines, under counter freezers, deli and drink stations at the casino.
  • Forecasts and prepares for equipment downtime and takes appropriate actions to ensure guest and employee comfort.
  • Repairs air conditioning and heating units, associated equipment including addressing emergency breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintains all required records and completes all necessary training to stay current on changing technology and requirements.
  • Orders all necessary parts to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Accurately completes all required paperwork on the work order forms in a timely manner.
  • Observes all necessary safety precautions for self, guests, and employees, when working with high voltage and pressurized equipment.
  • Maintains a dependable work attendance record with infrequent absence and tardiness.
  • Schedules, procures, and installs new equipment and systems.
  • Makes and performs necessary assessments and repairs to maintain property operations; responds to repair orders promptly and efficiently to avoid service disruption.
  • Contacts and coordinates work with outside vendors on HVAC and commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Follows and ensures all applicable procurement policies are met and complied with when ordering, purchasing, and receiving materials, equipment, or services.
  • Maintains documented inventory of basic standby equipment, materials, tools, and other apparatus as related to the trade or as assigned in terms of security, readiness, and availability.
  • Responds to emergencies or assists with manpower coverage as needed.
  • Ensures and performs maintenance, servicing, remodeling, troubleshooting, and repair tasks; examines various electrical systems and makes recommendations for new equipment, repairs, and modifications.
  • Responds and takes appropriate actions in the event of emergency or critical incidents, i.e., system failures, fires, flooding, or other emergencies.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Oversees all aspects of the HVAC systems on property.
  • Performs full range of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Repairs or replaces parts of the systems such as various types of compressors, chillers, receivers, evaporators, pumps, fans, controls, bearings, valves, diaphragms, thermostats, duct work, etc.
  • Starts, stops, and monitors the operation of boilers, chillers, fans, pumps, and other building equipment and systems related to heating, cooling, emergency power supply, and other purposes.
  • Repairs parts of plumbing systems by removing, cleaning, replacing, packing, and sealing defective parts as it pertains to HVAC systems.
  • May operate company vehicles or equipment as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as required.
