About The Position

Sylvester & Cockrum is seeking a Commercial/Industrial HVAC Technician based in Charlotte, NC. The company is a full-service mechanical contractor serving North Carolina, South Carolina, and surrounding regions, providing commercial, institutional, and industrial mechanical and electrical services. The HVAC Service Technician demonstrates the ability to lead, direct, motivate, and inspire workers in a positive manner and reports to the Field Service Supervisor / Service Manager. The technician maintains, services, performs preventive maintenance on, and repairs HVAC and related mechanical systems and equipment. The role involves maintaining tools, supplies, and equipment; following safety requirements and using appropriate PPE; keeping appropriate records; maintaining a professional appearance; and communicating with customers. Flexibility to work extended shifts may be needed, with overtime as required. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience as a Commercial/Industrial Service Technician.
Service and repair experience with HVAC/R equipment, including electrical, refrigeration, gas/oil, VAV/mixing boxes, fan boxes, controls, VRF, VFD, CRAC, DX, water source heat pumps (WSHP), chillers, boilers, and related hydronic equipment.
Valid North Carolina driver's license.
Universal CFC certification.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

Maintain and service HVAC systems, including hydronic, steam, chilled water, DX, forced air, heat pump, VAV, constant volume, exhaust, heat recovery, and related mechanical systems.
Perform preventive maintenance, service, and repairs on equipment.
Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment.
Follow safety requirements and use appropriate PPE.
Keep appropriate records.
Work extended shifts when needed; overtime may be required.
Maintain a professional appearance.
Communicate with customers.
Lead, direct, motivate, and inspire workers in a positive manner.
