About The Position

Assists in the administration, operation and maintenance of all HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, air-handling systems, Central Plant equipment and various other electro-mechanical systems located throughout the Medical Center. Works under the supervision of the Director of Plant Operations.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree AND a mimimum of 2 years of HVAC related experience in healthcare, or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • NYC Refrigeration License is highly desirable
  • Able to obtain NYCFD C of F G-60, F-60 and G-79

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director of Plant Operations in the planning, organization, and controls activities of HVAC Shop.
  • Maintains flow and quality of work to assure accurate completion of assigned workload and consistency to standards of quality.
  • Assists with preparation and maintains a variety of department records in compliance of The Joint Commission, Department of Health Standards, local authorities, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Works with the Director of Plant Operations in the coordination of construction and renovation programs for the facility.
  • Operates plant HVAC equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Maintains working knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary functions.
  • Directly supervises other Crothall and Mount Sinai managers and employees including supervisors, shop coordinators and bargaining unit line staff
  • Monitors and inspects employee work performance to assure performance standards are maintained
  • Resolves complaints as required, reports, and seeks guidance from Director of Plant Operations.
  • Orients and trains new employees and provides continuing guidance and on-the-job training to all assigned personnel.
  • Assists with the Quality Control Program of the department.
  • Reviews and writes specifications for corrective maintenance and minor construction and renovation projects.
  • Monitors and coordinates a variety of preventative maintenance and building and property repair and improvement projects performed by vendors and contractors, inspects completed work and approves requests for payment regarding same
  • Performs departmental and other related duties as required.
