About The Position

IES Residential is seeking an experienced HVAC Superintendent to oversee HVAC field operations and support the successful execution of installation, service, replacement, and construction activities. This role is responsible for supervising field personnel, coordinating job site operations, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring HVAC projects are completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with company requirements and applicable codes.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, installation practices, tools, materials, troubleshooting techniques, and construction methods.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety practices, applicable HVAC/mechanical codes, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, project plans, specifications, schedules, and HVAC documentation.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coordinate, train, and provide direction to HVAC field personnel.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve field and operational issues.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, productivity, workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project leadership, field personnel, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as applicable HVAC, project management, or operational systems and software.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screenings such as background and motor vehicle record checks.
• English speaking, reading, and writing preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
• Spanish speaking preferred.
• Maintain professionalism and a positive, respectful demeanor with customers, coworkers, subcontractors, vendors, and business partners.
• Use HVAC tools, equipment, phones, tablets, computers, and other applicable technology.
• Ability to effectively multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and adapt to changing project schedules and operational demands.
• Ability to work overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekends as business needs require.
• Stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
• Sit for extended periods while driving to and between job sites.
• Work on active construction and job sites, indoors and outdoors, including attics, crawlspaces, confined spaces, and elevated areas, with exposure to varying weather conditions, construction noise, dust, and other job site conditions.
• Wear required safety gear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Maintain dependable transportation and consistent, reliable attendance to meet project, customer service, and operational needs.
• Exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within established company policies, procedures, and job responsibilities.
• Communicate in person, by phone, and electronically, including through tablets, smartphones, computers, and other office or field technology.
• Travel as required to support project and operational needs.
• Perform all work on-site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without current or future need for employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous HVAC superintendent, HVAC field leadership, construction management, or related field operations experience preferred.
• Previous HVAC installation, service, replacement, or construction experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience supervising or coordinating HVAC field personnel and job site activities preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant HVAC industry experience may be considered.
• Relevant HVAC industry certifications or licenses preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily HVAC installation, service, replacement, and field operations on assigned job sites.
• Lead, manage, and provide direction to HVAC field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and other operational teams to support successful project completion.
• Review project plans, specifications, schedules, drawings, work orders, and HVAC requirements to ensure accurate and timely project execution.
• Monitor HVAC installation progress, field productivity, workmanship, safety, and quality standards throughout all phases of assigned projects.
• Ensure HVAC systems, equipment, materials, and installation practices comply with company standards, manufacturer requirements, applicable HVAC/mechanical codes, and project specifications.
• Coordinate effectively with project managers, customers, office staff, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel regarding project schedules, installation requirements, materials, and operational updates.
• Identify and resolve HVAC installation issues, job site conflicts, scheduling delays, safety concerns, material needs, and other operational challenges in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, operational procedures, and applicable building and HVAC codes.
• Maintain accurate job site documentation, reports, inspections, project records, and other required HVAC-related documentation.
• Assist with workforce planning, field scheduling, manpower allocation, material coordination, equipment usage, and other resources necessary to meet project requirements.
• Monitor job site conditions, HVAC equipment, tools, and materials to support safe and efficient field operations.
• Provide leadership, training, coaching, and technical support to HVAC field personnel to promote quality workmanship, productivity, safety, and professional development.
• Support process improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve HVAC field operations, productivity, installation quality, and overall efficiency.
• Ensure quality standards and customer expectations are consistently met while maintaining professional communication with customers and business partners.
• Work collaboratively with leadership and other departments to address project requirements and support departmental and company objectives.
• Perform additional administrative, operational, and field support responsibilities as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
