About The Position

Summers Plumbing, Heating and Cooling is hiring for its Sales Tech group. The role is suited to an HVAC technician seeking to advance into selling equipment or to a current Selling Technician seeking more opportunities. Compensation includes an hourly rate plus commissions, bonuses, and spiffs. Training to expand knowledge and areas of expertise will be provided, with further certification expected.

The employee determines residential HVAC service needs, performs repairs, and sells equipment, accessories, and promotional materials. The position requires professional, respectful customer and coworker interactions, thorough inspections, accurate quotes, and completion of proposed work. Employees follow company policies and procedures, attend required meetings and training, and contribute to a positive, professional work environment.

Employment is conditional on drug testing, background checks, and a valid driver's license. The physical requirements include lifting and maneuvering equipment up to 25 pounds; crawling, climbing, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching overhead, and working on ladders; and using hand and power tools.

Requirements

• Currently able to troubleshoot and repair a variety of residential HVAC systems.
• Understand residential heating and cooling equipment operation, indoor air quality (IAQ), air distribution systems, and basic HVAC appliance and fixture repairs.
• Able to install supporting IAQ products according to manufacturers' specifications and applicable codes.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, office staff, and coworkers.
• Be thorough in inspections and accurate in quoting replacements or repairs.
• Have a positive attitude and work hard, smart, and efficiently.
• Valid driver's license.
• Pass drug testing and background checks as conditions of employment.
• Able to lift and maneuver equipment up to 25 pounds.
• Able to crawl, climb, kneel, squat, bend, reach overhead, and climb and work on ladders.
• Able to use hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Determine residential HVAC service needs and perform repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair a variety of residential HVAC systems.
• Install supporting IAQ products according to manufacturers' specifications and applicable codes.
• Interact and communicate professionally with customers in their homes and businesses, as well as with office staff and coworkers.
• Conduct thorough inspections and accurately quote replacement or repair work.
• Complete proposed work as quoted.
• Consistently sell equipment, accessories, and other company promotional materials.
• Participate in required staff meetings and training sessions.
• Follow company policies and procedures and contribute to a professional, friendly work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
