About The Position

The HVAC Mechanic position performs install, service, and repair heating and air-conditioning systems in residences and commercial establishments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Universal HVAC license required.
  • 3+ years of related HVAC experience required.
  • Must maintain a valid, current driver's license and be MBMC insurable.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
  • Must be adept at using a variety of tools to work with refrigerant lines and air ducts, including but not limited to, hammers, wrenches, metal snips, electric drills, pipe cutters and benders, measurement gauges, and acetylene torches.
  • Ability to use voltmeters, thermometers, pressure gauges, manometers, and other testing devices to check airflow, refrigerant pressure, electrical circuits, burners, and other components.
  • Excellent carpentry skills required.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical functions.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow instructions.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Considerable attention required to prevent injury to self and others when working on ladders and scaffolds.
  • Interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, and related mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable system operation.
  • Monitor, inspect, and test HVAC equipment to identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Install, repair, and maintain thermostats, humidistats, timers, and other system controls.
  • Test electrical circuits, components, and wiring using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment, components, wiring, piping, and tubing as needed.
  • Inspect piping, tubing, and system connections for leaks and perform necessary repairs.
  • Install and connect humidifiers, water lines, drain lines, and other HVAC system components.
  • Maintain proper airflow and indoor air quality standards, including safe carbon dioxide levels.
  • Replace air filters and address drainage issues to support optimal system performance.
  • Coordinate the pickup, delivery, and procurement of parts and materials required for maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain required certifications and ensure compliance with safety regulations, policies, procedures, and cleanliness standards while performing other assigned duties.
