About The Position

Responsible for maintaining all hospital heating and air conditioning equipment. The Engineering department is a full service department providing utilities on a 24-hour basis, and maintenance and repair of installed equipment. This role is responsible for complying with regulatory agencies including TJC, OSHPD, SCAQMD, NFPA, Title 17, 22, 24, NEC, Cal OSHA, and UBC 90. The department handles approximately 3,600 work orders yearly. No Patient Health Information access is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Vocational training, specialized HVAC skills, certifications &/or experience
  • Vocational trade school graduate or equivalent with journeyman’s level training in air conditioning.
  • Three years air conditioning experience in a commercial/industrial setting.
  • Must have a strong mechanical background and experience in troubleshooting of controls systems.
  • A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be completed at time of hire and on an annual basis thereafter.
  • Current California driver’s license; a copy of the renewed license will need to be submitted upon renewal.
  • Evidence of current car insurance; a copy of the renewed car insurance will need to be submitted upon renewal.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years air conditioning and refrigeration experience.

Responsibilities

  • May need to drive a company vehicle during business hours.
  • Maintains heating and cooling systems throughout the Hospital.
  • Orders parts for repair and service of equipment.
  • Consistently keeps all work orders current to satisfy customer needs.
  • Orders parts through vendors to keep supply on hand for repairs.
  • Operates, maintains, inspects, and performs repairs to heating and air conditioning systems to maintain appropriate environment.
  • Assists in planning and implementation of a preventative maintenance program.
  • Consistently performs system PMs and turns in PM reports in a timely manner.
  • Provides management with timely equipment PM reports.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of equipment that is obsolete and prepares a plan for replacement.
  • Ensures HVAC equipment is repaired and maintained to current codes.
  • Assures that equipment is being installed to current codes.
  • Ensures equipment is current with OSHPD & TJC requirements.
  • Ensures all repairs and maintenance are performed to meet local agencies (SCAQMD & OSHA).
