About The Position

The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining air conditioning systems. This role requires a Journeyman skill level, demonstrated through an accepted 4-year apprentice program with classroom time and 8000 worked hours, or equivalent experience and technical skills. The position involves interacting with internal and external customers, presenting a professional attitude, and identifying additional maintenance needs. The role also requires computer skills, time management, and the ability to work independently and follow instructions.

Requirements

Journeyman skill level to consist of accepted 4 year apprentice program with classroom time and 8000 worked hours or experience and technical skills equal to the apprenticeship from working in the trade for a number of years.
Candidate’s skills to be representative of the attached basic skill list.
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
Present a professional, positive and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with guests and co-workers.
Exhibits an understanding of Human Relations and functions as a “team player”.
Valid West Virginia’s Driver’s License.
EPA refrigerant certification.
Computer skills.
Time management skills.
Ability to follow specific general instructions.
Independent decision making skills required.
Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

Diagnosis, repair, operational checkout, start-ups, preventive maintenance, equipment installation and cleaning of HVAC systems.
Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
Present a professional, positive and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with guests and co-workers.
Observe additional maintenance needs requiring attention and report those to the supervisor.
Perform preventative maintenance and building checks.
Service comb coils, rigging, piping practices, and refrigerant handling.
Troubleshoot and repair residential and commercial systems.
Perform furnace and air conditioner change outs.
Work with advanced controls, electric, pneumatic, and DDS systems.
Service refrigerant circuits and accessories.
Understand air properties and distribution.
Perform advanced electricity tasks.
Complete compressor and heat pump change outs.
Conduct building air balancing.
Service commercial refrigeration, chilled water systems, zone systems & control.
Work with advanced controls including economy, set back, and humidification.
Perform water treatment.
Assist with HVAC system design.
Read blueprints.
Service cooling towers.
Troubleshoot and repair pumps.
Troubleshoot and repair TXV.
Operate VAV systems.
Manage static pressure control.
Perform advanced soldering & brazing.
Perform advanced sheet metal work.
Service hydronic & heat pump systems.
Perform refrigerant systems cleanup.
Work with outdoor reset controls.
Estimate, manage, and account for jobs.
Analyze electrical systems.
Work with EMS.
Service centrifugal systems.
Manage C02, C0 & 02 Control.
Engage in continuing education.
