HVAC Mechanic I - Warren Correctional Institution
About The Position
Reporting to the HVAC Supervisor at a medium custody male correctional facility, this position is primarily responsible for providing journey-level work in the areas of Heating/Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Hot Water Supply, and also Plumbing and Food Service Equipment. Other responsibilities include performing special repairs and assignments received by work orders, identifying the cause of problems and determining materials, tools, and methods of repair, carrying out repair procedures independently on most jobs, performing preventative maintenance functions as required, and training and/or supervising the work of offender helpers as needed.
Requirements
- High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of progressive experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling, chilled water distribution and control systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F.
- Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
- Pass a criminal background check
- Produce a negative drug screening result
- Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
- Possess a valid driver’s license

- Documented experience in HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) Systems.
Responsibilities
