This is an onsite role requiring 5 days per week in Plano, TX. The technician will be responsible for setting up and performing tests on equipment and test setups for clients. This includes building and adapting equipment, examining test samples, reading technical documents, and evaluating test performance. The role involves recording and explaining test results, completing test reports, and potentially directing staff in test setups. The technician will also learn to operate appropriate tests for customer samples with supervision, communicate with customers during testing, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment. Basic calibration of test equipment may also be performed. The role requires understanding specific test standards and initiating recommendations for new equipment designs and solutions to test problems. The technician will report data to engineers and engineering management and may communicate with clients regarding test methods and results. The position operates with minimal supervision within defined limits and requires recording data on UL forms, preparing data sheets, and test reports. Planning tests, evaluating results, and reporting interpretations may also be part of the role. Integrating continuous improvement concepts and communicating suggestions for improvements to management are also key aspects of the job.
