This is an onsite role requiring 5 days per week in Plano, TX. The 3rd Shift is from 11pm-7:30am. The technician will be responsible for setting up and performing equipment and test setups for clients, adapting test equipment for performance of tests, and examining test samples. They will read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, measuring instruments, and operational instructions, following defined test plans and datasheets. The role involves evaluating test performance and sample operation, recording and explaining test results, and completing test reports. The technician will also adapt setup and test equipment to new situations based on datasheets and engineering instructions, and may direct staff in test setups. They will examine less complex customer samples, learn to operate appropriate tests with supervision, and communicate with customers during setup and operation. The role includes operating designated machines and special laboratory equipment, performing routine maintenance, and potentially basic calibration of test equipment. Understanding specific test standards and testing technology is required, with supervision. The technician will initiate recommendations for new equipment designs and solutions to test problems, reporting data to engineers and management. They may communicate with clients about test methods and results, operating with minimal supervision within defined limits. Data will be recorded on UL forms, and data sheets and test reports will be prepared. The role may involve planning tests, evaluating results, and reporting interpretations. Integrating continuous improvement concepts and communicating suggestions for improvements to management and technical staff are also part of the responsibilities.
