About The Position

IntelliTec College in Grand Junction, Colorado, is hiring a part-time HVAC Technician to instruct students. The Instructor delivers established curriculum and lesson plans, grades assignments, records attendance, and maintains an effective learning environment through classroom management. Prior teaching experience is not required; IntelliTec will provide support and training. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

IntelliTec Colleges, founded in 1965, provides technical trades programs designed around the anticipated needs of local communities and works with local employers to help ensure students develop job-ready skills.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or completion of a certificate program in HVAC or a related field.
• At least 5 years (minimum 10,000 hours) of experience in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and/or refrigeration maintenance or a related field.
• Experience in the field is required; prior teaching experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and teach established, approved curriculum and lesson plans.
• Answer student questions to support understanding and completion of course material.
• Communicate safety policies and monitor students' use of correct procedures.
• Maintain professionalism in the classroom and coach students on professionalism and issues affecting their education.
• Manage and resolve classroom student issues as needed.
• Manage classroom activities, including lecturing, student assistance, and lab instruction.
• Monitor attendance and punctuality and resolve attendance issues as needed.
• Record attendance, grades, outside work, and student interactions in student files and the database in a timely manner.
• Attend periodic training to maintain field currency and improve teaching strategies.
• Set up the lab area and equipment for daily instructional activities.
• Work with the Program Supervisor to initiate student support plans and warnings as needed.
