About The Position

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis and may teach under 8- or 16-week contracts. They create a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment using common syllabi. The role includes delivering assigned classes, developing and maintaining instructional materials and records, engaging students through active teaching strategies, and following College policies and safety procedures. All responsibilities must comply with FERPA, applicable regulations, and professional standards. The position also calls for respect for diverse perspectives and a team culture that supports open communication and mutual respect. Pay is $45.45 per contact hour.

Requirements

• Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
• Meet faculty credentials outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
• Demonstrate appreciation for, respect for, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
• Provide transcripts and/or relevant certifications or licenses at the time of hire.
• Complete a satisfactory background check as a condition of employment.
• Meet one of the stated education, specialized certification, and directly related work experience routes: a related baccalaureate or higher degree and two years of directly related work experience; a baccalaureate or higher degree, required specialized certifications, and five years of directly related work experience; or a related associate or higher degree, required specialized certifications, and three years of directly related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and other materials.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required documentation.
• Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that support learning and a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
• Develop and implement active classroom teaching strategies that engage students in curricular learning.
• Interact with students and co-workers professionally and cooperatively, and comply with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
• Know and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and other learning environments.
• Conduct responsibilities within FERPA requirements, other applicable regulations, and professional standards.
