HVAC- Facilities Senior Maintenance Technician
About The Position
We are seeking a highly skilled, HVAC-certified Facility Senior Maintenance Technician who takes pride in keeping critical building systems operating safely, efficiently, and reliably. This is not a typical maintenance position. The successful candidate will serve as the primary HVAC expert for the entire facility during 2nd shift operations. As the only HVAC-certified technician on shift, you will be expected to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all HVAC equipment and systems without direct HVAC support available. This role requires extensive commercial and industrial HVAC knowledge, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the confidence to make critical maintenance decisions that directly impact facility operations. You must be comfortable working independently and capable of handling everything from routine preventive maintenance to complex system failures. Requirements
- HVAC Certification required
- Minimum of 5+ years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience
- Strong hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial HVAC equipment
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair HVAC systems independently
- Advanced knowledge of HVAC controls, electrical systems, motors, drives, thermostats, and refrigeration systems
- Strong understanding of HVAC safety standards, refrigerant handling, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical building systems
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management abilities
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical maintenance tasks
- Valid driver's license
- Must be comfortable serving as the sole HVAC-certified technician on 2nd shift
- Must possess the knowledge and experience to independently resolve complex HVAC issues without relying on additional HVAC support
- Ability to make sound technical decisions during equipment failures and emergency situations
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple maintenance demands
- Comfortable working on rooftops, mechanical rooms, elevated equipment, and confined spaces
- Willingness to work occasional overtime, weekends, or on-call assignments as needed
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement
Nice To Haves
- EPA Refrigerant Certification
- Additional HVAC, CFC, or mechanical certifications
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Experience troubleshooting HVAC control systems
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HVAC subject matter expert for all 2nd shift operations
- Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC systems
- Respond to HVAC emergencies and facility-related issues with little to no supervision
- Perform advanced maintenance on rooftop units, air handlers, compressors, condensers, chillers, ventilation systems, refrigeration equipment, and associated controls
- Diagnose and resolve complex HVAC performance issues, airflow problems, electrical control failures, and temperature control concerns
- Monitor, optimize, and maintain HVAC system performance and energy efficiency
- Maintain refrigerant systems in compliance with EPA and environmental regulations
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation
- Support maintenance and repair of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems throughout the facility
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, and service reports using CMMS systems
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans to maximize equipment uptime
- Lead HVAC-related repairs, troubleshooting efforts, and improvement projects
- Assist with facility upgrades, renovations, and energy-efficiency initiatives
- Maintain maintenance tools, test equipment, and spare parts inventory
- Provide technical guidance and support to other maintenance personnel when needed
