About The Position

KLS is recruiting on behalf of an established, locally owned commercial mechanical contractor with over 60 years of proven success in the region. Specializing in commercial HVAC and plumbing solutions, our client delivers new construction, renovation, and complex design-build projects across the hospitality, education, and light commercial sectors. Known for operational stability, quality craftsmanship, and exceptional employee retention, they are looking to add an experienced HVAC Estimator to their team. The HVAC Estimator will drive the estimation process for commercial HVAC projects valued between $1M and $10M. This hands-on, technical role requires expertise in digital takeoffs, blueprint interpretation, bid preparation, and cost analysis.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years estimating commercial HVAC new construction and renovation projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems (ductwork, sheet metal, hydronic piping) and blueprint interpretation.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic takeoff and estimating tools.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable record; ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive proposals for new construction, renovation, and design-build projects.
  • Perform detailed labor and material takeoffs for ductwork, sheet metal, hydronic piping, commercial plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Manage the full estimating lifecycle, including pre-bid reviews, vendor quote comparisons, and final proposal submission.
  • Evaluate supplier pricing and subcontractor bids to support competitive project pricing.
  • Utilize digital takeoff and estimating software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Buildertrend, and related platforms.
