About The Position

R.J. Kielty Plumbing, Air & Electric is seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator to join their New Construction Division at their corporate office in New Port Richey. This role is responsible for reviewing residential construction plans, preparing accurate and competitive estimates, and collaborating with builders, vendors, project managers, and the internal operations team. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple deadlines, and possess knowledge of residential HVAC systems and new-construction estimating.

Requirements

  • HVAC estimating experience, preferably in residential new construction
  • Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, materials, installation methods, and terminology
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret architectural and mechanical plans
  • Knowledge of Florida building codes, energy requirements, and applicable HVAC standards
  • Experience performing material, equipment, and labor takeoffs
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and meet firm deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating or construction-management software
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience estimating production-home, custom-home, or multifamily projects
  • Knowledge of Manual J, Manual S, Manual D, and energy calculations
  • Familiarity with builder-specific scopes and purchasing requirements
  • Established relationships with HVAC suppliers or equipment manufacturers
  • Field installation, project-management, or HVAC design experience

Responsibilities

  • Review construction plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents
  • Prepare detailed HVAC estimates for single-family and multifamily new-construction projects
  • Complete material and equipment takeoffs
  • Determine labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs
  • Request and review vendor and manufacturer pricing
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and competitive proposals
  • Identify plan discrepancies, missing information, and potential cost impacts
  • Submit requests for information when clarification is needed
  • Track bids, deadlines, revisions, and proposal status
  • Maintain organized estimating records and project documentation
  • Work with builders and internal teams on value-engineering opportunities
  • Assist with bid revisions, change orders, and scope comparisons
  • Support project handoff after a bid is awarded
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with builders, suppliers, and team members
