About The Position

Ehvert Mission Critical, a business unit within Salas O’Brien, is seeking an experienced HVAC Designer for a long-term independent contractor engagement supporting data center projects across the United States. The engagement is ongoing and is not limited to a single project. The contractor will work remotely from Ukraine and collaborate with teams across multiple mission-critical projects as business needs require. The role focuses on modeling, designing, and analyzing mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, chilled water systems, cooling towers, boilers, humidification, and condensation systems. Work spans the project lifecycle from schematic design through execution and includes simulations, calculations, technical documentation, BIM/CAD production, and coordination with other disciplines. Occasional site visits may be required to support construction progress. The engagement is strictly as an independent contractor under a formal agreement governed by Texas, United States law. Contractors are not eligible for employee benefits; they are responsible for their own taxes and labor obligations, and the company does not provide insurance or make social security or pension contributions.

  • Proven expertise in designing mechanical/HVAC systems.
  • Written and spoken English at B1 level or higher.
  • Hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit.
  • Experience with CFD software and mechanical modeling tools.
  • Experience designing building and engineering systems for industrial, commercial, or mission-critical projects.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering codes and safety standards.

  • Develop an understanding of project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Determine and expedite engineering deliverables for projects.
  • Develop and maintain project scope-of-work documentation and revisions as the design evolves.
  • Design mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, chilled water systems, boilers, humidification, and cooling towers.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, schematic designs, and detailed designs.
  • Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to optimize system performance.
  • Prepare execution documentation, including design criteria, calculations, specifications, and mechanical equipment data sheets.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Produce models and drawings using BIM and CAD tools.
  • Make occasional site visits to support construction progress.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate and contract terms.
