About The Position

FuntoNetwork is seeking a HVAC and Mechanical Design Engineer for an upcoming project opportunity: Design Services for HVAC Renovation Projects. This role involves executing the full scope of HVAC and Mechanical Design Engineering for school HVAC renovation projects. The engineer will be responsible for performing load, equipment, controls, ventilation, energy, constructability, code, and design-document work. Key tasks include confirming existing conditions, stakeholder needs, governing criteria, interfaces, constraints, and acceptance requirements. The role requires producing calculations, design basis documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, estimates, and technical decision records for review. Additionally, the engineer will resolve interdisciplinary reviews, comments, RFIs, substitutions, and approved design changes. Support for implementation testing and commissioning, along with reconciling final comments and delivering approved record documents, is also expected. The position requires tracing assigned work to the RFP scope, requirements, deliverables, dependencies, acceptance criteria, schedule milestones, and supporting evidence. Reviewing solicitation materials, documenting assumptions, open items, exclusions, risks, and required client decisions are crucial. The engineer will prepare role-specific technical inputs, work products, estimates, implementation details, quality records, and proposal or post-award delivery evidence. Coordination with various workstreams such as project management, business analysis, technical, field, quality, compliance, training, and operations is essential. Maintaining status, issue, decision, change, and evidence records, and escalating blockers before they impact submission or delivery readiness are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience performing HVAC and Mechanical Design Engineer responsibilities in public-sector, regulated, enterprise, or comparable environments.
Ability to produce complete, reviewable work products tied to requirements and acceptance criteria.
Strong documentation, stakeholder coordination, risk awareness, confidentiality, and deadline discipline.
Relevant licenses, certifications, clearances, insurance, or local delivery capacity when required by the solicitation.

Responsibilities

Perform load, equipment, controls, ventilation, energy, constructability, code, and design-document work for school HVAC renovations.
Confirm existing conditions, stakeholder needs, governing criteria, interfaces, constraints, and acceptance requirements for the work package.
Produce the calculations, architecture or design basis, drawings, specifications, schedules, estimates, and technical decision records required for review.
Resolve interdisciplinary reviews, constructability or implementation comments, RFIs, substitutions, and approved design changes.
Support implementation testing and commissioning; reconcile final comments and deliver approved record documents and technical handoff materials.
Trace assigned work to the RFP scope, requirement or RTM row, deliverable, dependency, acceptance criterion, schedule milestone, and supporting evidence.
Review official solicitation materials and addenda affecting this workstream; document assumptions, open items, exclusions, risks, and required client decisions.
Prepare role-specific technical inputs, work products, estimates, implementation details, quality records, and proposal or post-award delivery evidence.
Coordinate interfaces and handoffs with project management, business analysis, technical, field, quality, compliance, training, and operations workstreams.
Maintain status, issue, decision, change, and evidence records and escalate blockers before they affect submission or delivery readiness.
